Fee Hike: Medical colleges asked to reverse fee

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Friday decided to reverse the seven per cent raise in tuition fees for students at private medical colleges. According to a Ministry of National Health Services official, the authority will approve the old fee structure, under which annual tuition fees was Rs642,000 for local  students and $18,000  for dual-nationals. He said the fee hike was approved last year by the previous PMDC council members. It had allowed private medical colleges to charge Rs689,714 for general seats and $19,260 for overseas Pakistani seats. Notices will be issued to medical colleges upon violation of PMDC rules and regulations, he said.
