KARACHI:
The heatwave persisted in Sindh for the fourth consecutive day on Friday with average temperatures ranging between 41 and 42 degree Celsius. In Karachi, mercury rose to 41.3 degree Celsius.
However, according to a report issued by Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), starting today (Saturday) the weather conditions may improve and daytime temperatures may decrease by two to three degrees Celsius.
Karachi begins to swelter as Sindh braces for heatwave
The direction of wind blowing from north and north-west on Friday will gradually change and winds may blow from west and south-west. The authorities and all stakeholders are requested to continue with their efforts of precautionary measures and keep abreast with updates from the Met Office.
People have been compelled to stay indoors to avoid heatstroke, after the government has issued a heatwave alert. The hilly areas of Jamshoro, Dadu, Larkana, Karachi, Qambar Shahdadkot and Jacobabad are also in the grip of drought.
The business, social and education activities in towns and villages in interior Sindh continued to also suffer from load-shedding that occur daily for four to 16 hours.
