Pakistan rebukes world over ‘do more’ mantra

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan on Sunday snubbed the world for its unending “do more” mantra while refusing to provide additional funds for the country’s security and economic needs.

The strong-worded message, delivered at the Pakistan Development Forum by Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti, shows a lack of trust between Islamabad and other allies in the war on terror.

“Sorry for being undiplomatic…even if you cannot give us funds, give us moral support and do not ask us to do more as we have already sacrificed so many lives and spent billions of dollars on the war against terror,” said Malik.

“If the world thinks that Pakistan and Afghanistan are in trouble and they are safe,  it is wrong,” he said, calling upon the international community to help Pakistan to fight the war on terror. “I request you, not for Pakistan’s sake but for the sake of world peace to help Pakistan,” he added.

The world is complaining that Pakistan is not doing enough to deal with extremists, while Islamabad is of the view that it has rendered sacrifices more than anybody in the world but has been deprived of the needed support.

Chief Minister Hoti also came hard on the donors, saying that the world should not pressure Pakistan for a military offensive in the North Waziristan tribal region.

“As far as (launching an offensive in the) North Waziristan is concerned, the international community should leave that to us. The timing and strategy will be decided by Pakistan’s government and army,” he said. “The Malakand operation was launched without the world support and we produced excellent results.”

The international community is mounting pressure on Pakistan to go after the Haqqani network based in North Waziristan.

In recent months the world diverted its attention from the war on terror and its impact on the K-P, he said. “For the people of Khyber-Pakthunkhwa the war on terror is as important as anything else.” He said that despite floods the war on terror remained a top priority of his government.

K-P Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani said the only way to change the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas is to change it from a rural to an urban society and that requires international assistance.

Hoti said his province needs Rs107 billion for overcoming losses caused by flood and Malakand operation and that they are facing a shortfall of Rs59 billion.

  1. Thats what they r best known for. Even in 60 yrs they didnt understand their position and how to stay within their limits.

  2. @LOOL and Sundy,

Tell me any country in this world who is not in debts, even some biggest powers are begging money to keep their economies from falling down the hill.

  3. I have a doubt. In Pakistan, Lets say you have a house keeper for your house and you are paying the house keeper for the work. Do you expect the house keeper to lecture you like

Please pay me for not my sake but for the sake of the community because if I don’t do house keeping you house will become dirt and when you your house become dirt, the society also become dirty. So for the sake of the society you have to pay me.

Pakistan is doing similar thing by saying that they owe more from the International Community. If you go on saying that Pakistan had lost more when compared to anyone else in the war on terror, it is how you have behaved and hence the international community treat you like that. It is not the international community to redirect the floods into Pakistan. It is not the international community to get Earth Quakes to Pakistan. It is not the international community to nurture terrorist groups like LeT and JuD to build yous strategic assets against India.

All you are enjoying is just because the institutions and individuals are greedy in Pakistan and they want to be in driver seat even though they don’t have the capacity to drive themselves to a decent life. Take any field from Cricket to Nuclear Science, Politics to Religion, Education to Peaceful Life. You people are on the list on the top of the reverse list of best countries. Have you ever thought why this is happening? Most of the times, you used to redirect the finger pointing towards others like, Conspiracy to defame Pakistan, CIA/RAW/MOSSAD/Black Water undercover operations to bring down the harmonies of Pakistan. But the mistakes are not with the pointing fingers but with you and within your society. Can anyone answer me, why any terrorist activity in the world is linked to some organization in Pakistan? Why Pakistan is always asking for aid or begging for survival? The neighbors around you had grown, but why Pakistan’s growth is shrinking leave alone expansion? Do you still say these are conspiracies from the outsiders to Defame Pakistan? People start to say Human Rights Violations in J&K. How will you call the target killings in Karachi? How will you call the blast in Shrines in Pakistan? How will you call the Mob Justice in Pakistan? How will you call looting of the public money by the relief workers during the floods in Pakistan? How will you call your cricketers saying that they were cornered just because they belong to Muslim community, though they were caught red handed in tape doing fixing and their counter players allege their involvement in fixing? You take any aspect, you name, I will explain the violations in that. You people continue to talk about HR violations, integrity and individual rights. Please ensure you provide equal rights to your counter citizens and avoid raising your begging bowls. Automatically you will get respect from the international community as time progress.

“…Tell me any country in this world who is not in debts..”
Now, tell us how many of them have borrowed beyond their capacity to repay, teetering on reneging on them. Borrowing capital is NOT a sin, but reneging on them is.

  5. stop this criticizing & blame game don’t point fingers anyone, if you have guts then stand up & take the first step, abusing politicians writing comments on websites wont change ur country or future

khud ko thik karo agar sab ko thik dekhna chahte ho

  6. Pakistan will keep begging and its politicians, in the top positions, will continue to keep hoarding the money in Swiss banks, while keeping poor Pakistanis as poor as ever!

  7. MR Amjad
Countries with huge debts dont borrow more to service their debt. Countries with huge debts dont carry begging bowl around. Countries with huge debts go around the world scouting for business opportunities so that they can service/repay debts. Countries with huge debts dont patronize terrorists groups and threaten the world saying “If world doesnt help us, terrorist will take over”. Countries with huge debts dont give BMWs to their army generals and free plots to all the MPs. Countries with huge debts dont have MNAs with fake certificates.I am afraid Pakistan does all this and more. If u dont beg, nobody will complain about huge debts
