KARACHI:

The National Institute for Cardio-Vascular Diseases (NICVD) has enough money to cater to only 30 per cent of its patients.

“Every day, around 500 patients come to the emergency ward, while nearly 2,500 visit the outpatient department,” executive director Prof. Khan Shah Zaman to Federal Minister for Health Riaz Hussain Pirzada who was visiting on Tuesday.

Last year, 8,000 angiographies, 3,000 angioplasties and 1,500 open heart surgeries were conducted at nominal charges.
