Athletics: Blake sets lifetime best in 400m

KINGSTON:

Jamaican 100-metre (m) world champion Yohan Blake opened his 2012 Olympic season with a lifetime best of 46.49 seconds (s) to finish second in the 400m at the Camperdown Classic. Blake looked sharp as he shaved three-tenths of a second off his previous best of 46.80s set three years ago. He was passed in the last 10m by world 4×400 bronze-medallist Allodin Fothergill, who won in 46.28s. Meanwhile, Usain Bolt was originally scheduled to compete in the meet but pulled out after he was called away for a business trip.
