Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar said on Wednesday that the decision of shutting down Rental Power Projects by the Supreme Court of Pakistan was not a “good omen” and that the decision will push Pakistan into darkness.Speaking to the media at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Qamar said that the authorities do not have the power [to make such decisions] and should not take actions which could cause damage to Pakistan in any way.
Responding to a question regarding the increasing crisis in the petroleum and natural gas segment, he said that an energy conference was due on April 9 in Lahore, which will be attended by the chief ministers of all four provinces and officials from the federal government.
“We will sit together and chalk out a strategy in order to overcome this crisis.”
