A full court reference was held on Monday in honour of retiring Peshawar High Court (PHC) judge Miftahuddin.
In his address, Justice Miftahuddin Khan said the judiciary has emerged as a symbol of confidence. Although we are confronted with corrupt forces, a strong judiciary can ward them off, he added.
Born in 1951, Justice Miftahuddin Khan was selected as a civil judge in 1977. After serving as a district and sessions judge in several courts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, he was given the post of PHC registrar and then elevated to the position of additional sessions judge in 2009. He served there for two years before he became a high court judge in 2011.
Condolence
A condolence reference was held for late PHC chief justice Sardar Fakhr-e-Alam who breathed his last on January 8. He was 84.
Alam became a PHC judge in 1979 and served as the chief justice from September 1987 to February 1991.
