KARACHI:
The British government has contacted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan with regards to his concerns for the safety of party workers in Karachi, the PTI chairman’s sister Aleema Khan said on Monday.
Aleema arrived in Karachi to attend the soyem of PTI leader Zahra Shahid Hussain, who was killed in the city on the eve of re-polling for NA-250 constituency.
The PTI chairman’s sister told the media that Imran was concerned about the safety of the PTI supporters protesting in Karachi.
“He was concerned because supporters and leaders have been receiving threats,” she explained.
She further added that PTI supporters in Karachi were threatened not to leave their homes.
Regarding the course the party will take for the murder case, Aleema said the Karachi leadership of PTI will decide on who to nominate in Hussain’s murder FIR.
I got no sympathy for MQM, but Khan running to Brits for protection?? Is this NAYA PAKISTAN he promised us????.
So the British government is more concerned than our own government.
Why is Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan speaking to media on behalf of PTI? Is PTI too a family affair like corrupt PPP and PML-N?

Could the honourable British Commissioner enlighten us Pakistanis on what would be the reaction of his government if a Pakistani citizen from pakistan issued life threats on live TV to his British opponents in Britain and threatened to dismember Britain??

Yes he must contact British Govt, but Karachi is controlled from London, so British Govt is responsible.. Its like joking that Pak govt will do any thing about it.. So he did the right thing..

Imran khan is not running to British govt but Altaf hussain who is a british citizen issuing live threats to media and PTI members and talking about the seperation of Pakistan.Well done Imran khan for holding the british govt responsible for this situation in Karachi as well.
If not British government then who else will help in this situation. Pakistani goverment is slepping as nothing has happened. Altaf is british citizen, hence British government should be involved in this case.

Obviously you don’t understand litigation and jurisdictions. This is purely jurisdiction issue. Altaf Hussain is a citizen and a resident in UK, if you want to take up anything against Altaf Hussain, it has to be in UK court and through British government.Further, it’s a notice to the UK government to leash your citizen who is involved in murders in Pakistan and if they fail to do so in future, blame can also go to UK government. This is a pressure tactic and UK government now do have to constrain its citizen or the opposition their may raise questions in future.

It seems from the comments thread that MQM supporters have started reading newspapers. This is a good sign. They should know now that you cannot control masses through weapons. One day they will be fed up and they will stand up against you, like Karachi is standing against MQM.

My friend, he is not running to them. Since Altaf Hussain is a UK citizen, a complaint had to be registered to UK authorities of his speeches and that is why UK authorities approached Imran Khan.

The contents of the news need to be independently verified. There is no reason to contact IK (by British government) for any violation of law if any, by the British citizen i.e. Altaf Hussain.

I am from KPK, I voted for PTI and I believe that I voted for Pakistan. I will support anybody who will work for Pakistan. From the last one or two decades MQM & ANP are portraying the killing of the innocent people of Karachi as an ethnic fight between Mohajir & Pashtoons. But i never feel hatered for Mohajirs bcz i believe that we are all Pakistanis. Now when ANP disappeared and when they saw that lot of people (Both Pashtoons & Mohajirs) voted for PTI in Karachi, suddenly they turned their guns towards PTI. Now tell me where is this ethnic fight between Pashtoons & Mohajirs????

It would be great to see British Govt’s reaction to such immature calls from PTI.
When presented the context of the speech, it would be very clear what AH said.
He said, if you are so against Karachi, haven’t condemned brutal killings of MQM supporters by your Taliban friends, then why don’t you separate Karachi?
The question about him murdering “PAKISTANIS” and stuff is laughable. All he said was “you are oppressing the mandate of NA250 and creating a civil rift (punishable by law) then do you want me to also react in revenge?” which was a rhetorical question.
Obviously these statements cannot be proved as threats in international courts / laws. So we are munching on popcorns, seeing how disappointed PTI followers will be by the UK govt’s reaction.

We request British government to stop its British national (Mr. Altaf Hussain) from telephonic threats to PTI Supporters in Pakistan.
We also demand from British Government to stop British National (Mr. Altaf Hussain) abusing Pakistani TV anchors and to stop vulgar language against other political parties.
We demand MQM (British national) leader to come to Pakistan and then address MQM supporters. Telephonic address is not acceptable.
