DIAMER:

A case was registered against unidentified men in relation to the murder of 10 foreign tourists at the foot of Nanga Parbat, Gilgit-Baltistan, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Gunmen dressed as paramilitary forces killed 10 foreign tourists on June 23 in an unprecedented attack in the Himalayas of Gilgit-Baltistan. The gunmen stormed into a base camp, killing Chinese and Ukrainian climbers in an area of the far-flung north not previously associated with violence or militancy.

A search operation is underway in Diamer, while the area surrounding the base camp has been sealed.

Police said around 37 suspects have been arrested since the incident.

In the aftermath of the killing, the federal government had suspended the chief secretary and inspector general of Gilgit-Baltistan, and constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the tragedy.
