Pakistan’s Aisamul Haq Qureshi and India’s Rohan Bopanna started the Apia International Sydney Open on a winning note as they defeated Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the first round of their doubles match on Tuesday.
KARACHI: Aisam played his former doubles partner Rojer in the opener and the former and his partner defeated the unseeded pair in a tough encounter. They took the first set 7-6 (7-5), but lost to Rojer and Tecau 6-7 (7-2) in the second. The match went on to the tie-break, where Aisam and Bopanna sealed victory 10-7.
The Indo-Pak express will face Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot in the next round.
