Jail authorities suspended an official from the hospital department of the Central Prison for allegedly supplying narcotics to prisoners.
HARIPUR: Haripur Central Prison DSP Akhtar Shah told journalists on Wednesday that 200 grammes of hashish was recovered from an inmate, Fayaz, who was already serving a life sentence on charges related to narcotics. The contraband was seized during a search of the prison.
Upon interrogation, the prisoner revealed he obtained the hashish from the hospital’s laboratory technician, Wajid. The jail superintendent then ordered to suspend the technician, besides launching a departmental probe against him. Meanwhile, the prisoner was sent to the punishment cell.
