The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to withdraw the sedition case against Kashmiri students for allegedly celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in a cricket match on March 1Express News reported.

Uttar Pradesh government had earlier filed a sedition case against these students from Kashmir under Section 124a, 153a and 427 of the Indian Penal Code. According to Section 124a, whoever excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards the Indian government shall be punished with imprisonment or with a fine.

Earlier, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU) in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh had suspended the students for celebrating Pakistan’s victory.

“The SVSU administration on Wednesday submitted a written complaint against unknown persons for indulging in anti-national activities and creating a ruckus on the university campus,” Meerut police chief Omkar Singh told AFP.

“We have registered a case and the probe is on,” Singh explained.

“If evidence is established against the accused, there is a set legal procedure to be followed in such cases. The law will take its own course,” he said, adding that any charges would be ones of sedition.

Pakistan’s foreign office spokesman said sedition charges against the students would be “very unfortunate”.

“If the Kashmiri students want to come and pursue their education in Pakistan, our hearts and academic institutions are open to them,” Tasnim Aslam told reporters in Islamabad.

According to the Hindustan Times, trouble began on Sunday night, when a group of local and Kashmiri students were watching the India-Pakistan cricket match in the hall of the hostel. A few Kashmiri students cheered every time an Indian player’s wicket fell, later celebrating Pakistan’s win.

LUCKNOW: Vice-chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Dr Manzoor Ahmad said he was taken aback by such a gesture by the students.

“Some students complained that a few students reportedly shouted Pakistan zindabad while going to their rooms,” said Ahmad.

He said the authorities initially decided to suspend only those students who had chanted such slogans.

  1. Well it is so heartening to know that most Muslims in India support Pakistan. Pakistan Zindabad !!!

  2. Big-heated and Progressive on the outside, and Conservative and Regressive on the inside … 😀 😀 … LOL …

  3. ET publishing a story that highlights the “other” side of India. Somebody pinch me

  4. Well well well….I am thinking what punishment should Pakistan give to Altaf Hussain and his party who think Pakistan should not have been created !!! Similarly to Najam Sethi and Asma Jehangir? If we are generous enough for letting them breathe in Pakistani air with independence and rights why can’t India let Kashmiris show their solidarity with Pakistan? Long way to go guys…

  5. thanks india for making an issue out of non issue. now the guys will become hero, kashmir issue will on TV and newspaper for longer than expected.

  6. No protest by anyone here today? Had Pakistan done such an act, this would have been full with anti-pakistani comments from pakistani and indians alike.

Someone was right when they said pakistan’s biggest enemy are pakistanis itself. Be they in form of taliban or intellectuals!

For india, I LAUGH at it being the world’s largest (failed) democracy!

  7. There will be lot of fuss on this news but one should understand that if India wins and Hindu community settled here in Pakistan rejoices then they would have suffered more than those Kashmiri students faced in India. I hope some saner elements understand but not stupid ones.

  8. @Tahir Zain:
one country not able to play their one and only good sport item in their homeland talking about others who are funding it for them.

  9. Hi,
What would you people do when some community in your country celebrates Indian victory?
Will you appreciate them? will you also celebrate with them????
In India, atleast these students were only expelled but in pakistan they would have got killed for sure.
Well we appreciate Pakistan winning the match…I would say both teams are good but the team that plays better on that particular day wins,On that day Pakistan played well so they won.
So its nothing like pakistan is the better team.
No majority of the muslims in India still support India only….Few people who support are most welcomed in pakistan and we are also happy to send them there…..

  10. It proves that Kashmir is an “integral part” of Pakistan. “ Kashmir Bane ga Pakistan”. Long Live Pakistan. Shame on fake “largest democracy”!

  11. @Tahir Zain: How Pakistani’s behaved when India defeated them in every single world cup cricket matches before? Just curious to know.

  12. Nothing new every anti India stance will be crushed though they may be any one no matter so mind it before doing something that may go against and antagonize India.

  13. Those suspended students deserve our full support both moral as well as physical. Our educational institutions should offer them admissions and free education. This is least we can do for them.

  14. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson:
really i hear even pakistani muslims and even my classfellows supporting india and liking kohli.
just go into streets u will find so many india cricketers and film fans..
this is most childish and idiotic response from india

  15. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson: So what u r basically concluding is that India is a ‘Hindu State’ and not a secular country. The two nation ideology prevails even today!!!

  16. Things have come to such a pass that a failed country such as Pakistan is teaching us about democracy! Just shows the insecurity and jealousy of you Pakis. You can’t do anything without gauging it against an Indian barometer!

We wish you Pakis would not claim to speak for us Indian Muslims. We don’t want to be identified with you. We don’t want anything to do with you. We have issues here, but we can manage them on our own. Who asked you for help? You can’t manage your own country, you want to meddle in India? You claim to be concerned for Indian Muslims, when you can’t look after your own? You have problems with all your neighbours, including Islamic countries such as Afghanistan and Iran, and you claim to look after Muslim interests? You pushed away Bangladesh, and you claim to be concerned for Kashmir?
If Indian Muslims have friends like you, who needs enemies?

As far as these misguided Kashmiri youth are concerned, I guess anybody would get incensed. As it is, in a communally surcharged atmosphere, any authority would take steps to preempt trouble. I fully support the actions of the UP authorities.

    Pakis talking about democracy!
    Hilarious!!!

  17. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson:
Hehe …. as much as Pakistan lost to India the Hindus you are talking about would have been extinguished by now … kidding Peace … sanity should prevail …. a non-issue being blown out of proportions

  18. Guys read a new book of Amrata Sen. According to him more than 50 percent Hindues are without tiolets. Therefore, India should first provide toilets and then celebrate their Hindu-extremists democracy and secularism.

  19. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson:
we Pakistanis don’t really care if somebody supports India, we take things lightly unlike our so called big neighbor, so please avoid acting like a Pakistani & shove your opinions down our throats when the reality is totally opposite 🙂 and this comes as no surprise to us, Muslims of UP & Kashmir do support Pakistan 🙂 cheers & peace out!

  20. I was just wondering what would have happened to any non Muslim or Muslim supporting India during a India Pakistan match. It sends shivers down my spine. Let’s face it all even Muslims prefer residing in India rather than pakistan

  21. I was just wondering what would have happened to any non Muslim or Muslim supporting India during a India Pakistan match. It sends shivers down my spine. Let’s face it all even Muslims prefer residing in India rather than pakistan

  22. The Kashmiri students who have been offered university education by Pakistan must gladly move to Pakistan. Wonder, why they don’t? Incidentally, being a democracy does not allow sedition, anywhere on earth.

  23. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson:
Hindus living here are more than happy & guess what.. The Pakistani hindus dont even own the hindustan.

  24. I’m a Kashmiri from Indian Occupied Kashmir, and I can tell you that almost all of us support Pakistan in every capacity we are able. Unfortunately, Indians punish, kill, rape, and murder Kashmiris only for showing our love for Pakistan and other Muslims. I hope the whole world sees this.

Kashmiris are Pakistanis, let us join where we belong or face the revolution by Kashmiris. The situation in Kashmir is very tense now and we have daily Pro-Pakistan rallies in every city. Many people are killed, tortured, and abducted, but still we Kashmiris’ won’t silence our voice for Azadi.

  25. It was not for cheering Pakistan cricket team; it was for openly shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans in a very communally sensitive area (college hall full of young boys) which had very recently witnessed communal riots.

The government of India, college and the mostly-Hindu taxpayers had been funding their entire expenses in the engineering college for education, boarding, lodging and even train/bus fair to and from their home in valley. There are still more than 200 Kashmiri Muslim students who are still in the college and safe.

They should be thankful that the management had provided than buses and police escort to leave the area safely.

  26. These are misguided youth. They should “introspect” that they are on full scholarships for professional expensive courses provided by the Indian prime minister.

Who says indian democracy is dead. They were sent home before the trouble escslated. And guess what the vc of the university with the hindu name who suspended these students is a muslim.

Wonder what would have happend to hindus in pak for publicaly supporting india??

    So chill out.

  27. University has blown the issue out of proportion & cast a cricket match as a political event… How is Cheering for Pakistan an anti-national activity for the university which deserves expulsion… Would doing so have meant the same thing if the students had celebrated, say, Australia’s win ?
My belief is situation could have been handled better without resorting to extreme action!

….More so this action has reinforced the existing prejudice against Kashmiri youth in India. Many Kashmiris in India are already subjected to social & security harassment. Kashmir is slipping away from India that too very fast.

  28. How would Indians or Pakistanis feel if UK or Australia expelled students (who are also perm residents) from their universities for supporting India or Pakistan during a match with UK or Australia? As I know for a fact that even UK or Australian born Indians or Pakistanis support India or Pakistan. I guess what I am tring to say is that – grow up..!!

  29. Vice-chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Dr Manzoor Ahmad is a Muslim. Name a single non Muslim Vice-Chancellor of any Pakistani University.

  30. To all Indian readers: believe me we have tons of Indian cricket fans in Pakistan…who root for India even when playing against Pakistan. And they belong to all classes, but we dont suspend them, burn them or bully them (mock them? yes). This is the same sportsmen spirit that India lacks as a nation. Learn to respect others. Its these little things, that make us proud of Pakistan.

  31. people should be free to cheer for whichever team they want. sedition charges are a bit too much. let kashmiris cheer for pakistan if that is where their heart lies.
but they must also realize that their acts have a political overtone which could extract a price elsewhere.
they could also give up their scholarships and go back to kashmir to be away from bigoted indians who cannot appreciate their sporting nature.

  32. @Kashif:
Because you don’t even understand the difference between what asma and najam sethi says as compare to celebrating what kashmiris student did. Talking about why a country was created(so many of your intellectual already agree today that it is not that Pakistan which M.A jinnah had conceived) or pointing out wrong doing of your own country man does not qualify for the sedition. It happens in all part of the world unfortunately Pakistani believe that they are best and their media is the only objective media in the world.
However i personally believe that kashmiris people are free to cheer for whichever team they want. After all pakistani has pain for every biradar country, be it kashmir, myanmar, Cechnya, Iraq, iran but not inside pakistan.

  33. @ o my
    Sports spirit? And pakistan? Lol
Any activities that’s against pakistan are either gunned down, bombed,or gone missing for life”
Please don’t lecture us ,we do none of those when rules are broken they are expelled. Not bombed/gunned/to death unlike pakistan.

  34. @Saj:
The man who expelled students, Vice-chancellor of that University , is also Muslim.. Dr Manzoor Ahmad.!!

  35. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson:
Would have…could have… is simply unsubstantiated speculation and thus irrelevant. What matters is what actually happened, and that was another demonstration by India that is a hegemonic state which is occupying a people and their territory through military force, and that is why it feels the need to take extreme measures to suppress any and all expressions of freedom.

  36. @Indian:

NOBODY in Pakistan celebrates an Indian victory, even if they hate Pakistan. NOBODY wants to have any association with India. So wake up and smell the coffee/tea/lassi/or whatever you people drink to get through your day!

  37. Seriously this was a non-issue. Now the Indian university website hacked by Pakistani cyber army.

  38. There are thousands of Pakistani students in UK and they always support Pakistan whenever there is cricket match between Pakistan and England and so are Indian students. Did you hear anyone expelled from there universities, No? cuz there is genuine democracy. Shame Shame on so called world’s largest democracy.

  39. @Saj:
That is the very reason why the sedition charges have been filed. They should have left India during partition along with your forefathers.

  40. @Indian reader:
tell ur buddies, its ok if they lost to pakistan. after all india beat pakistan in “every single” match in worldcup

  41. India is a nuisance, why does Express Tribune need to print stories of a nuisance country on its front page?

  42. Had they been Pakistanis shouting “Zindabad India” in case of India winning any game, the thekedars of Nazaria Pakistan most probably had them lynched by now

  43. kashmiri students( who are on full scholarships from Federal government) have been suspended on the charges of sedition. which i am sure will not stand in the court of law.

Chapter VI of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deals with “offences” against the State. Section 124A of the IPC defines Sedition as follows:- Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation, or otherwise, brings or attempts to bring into hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards the Government established by law in India, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, to which fine may be added, or with imprisonment which may extend to three years, to which fine may be added, or with fine.

Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression vis-à-vis Sedition
Article 19(1)(a) of Indian Constitution says that all citizens have the right to freedom of speech and expression. The right to freedom of speech and expression incorporates protection for austerely censuring existing government structures, policies, and administrative schemes, coupled with protection for suggesting and recommending the development of other system. Article 19 (2) of Indian Constitution says that, every citizen of the country holds the right to air his or her opinion through the printing or the electronic media with restrictions imposed.

supporting any team or even chanting Pakistan Zindabad alone is not an attempt to excite disaffection towards the government.. The Muslim Vice chancellor of the University might have felt that such action of Kashmiri students might create some sort of dis harmony and / or may lead to communal tension and appeared to be over enthusiastic. i feel the students’ suspension will be withdrawn. The matter should have been handled with maturity.

  44. @Joe:
If filing of Sedition case means “go to Pakistan” at least 19 people of Times of India (ToI) Ahmedabad should have been kicked out of India! Look at the legal tyranny of Gujarat: During May 27:June 1 ’08: TOI carried investigative reports on Police Commissioner Mathur’s dubious background and questioned if Ahmedabad was safe in his hands. On June 1 ‘ 08 : Mathur lodged first FIR against TOI for sedition. In all 19 cases were filed. Sedition case was slapped with oral consent of the chief minister and home minister Narendra Modi and MoS for home Amit Shah. But truth prevailed & on Apr 18 ’12 : Gujarat high court quashed sedition case against TOI, Ahmedabad

  45. narrow minded. No wonder Hinduism is confined to India, though it exists since 5000 years. Pethatic !!!

  46. @rasgullah:

Lets’s get this right before you put up this cheeky little comparison here. The ones supporting Pakistan at the Indian University are “Kashmiris” and not Indians. So your comparison of Pakistani Hindus cheering for India does not really make sense here. Kashmiris do not want to be part of India, they never did! They want Kashmir to be independent of the Indian rule and they have their sympathies with Pakistan. Pakistani Hindus have no such claims of separation from Pakistan. They are our citizens and go freely between Pakistan and India as they desire.

  47. The guys who cheered are lucky they were not lynched.
Kashmiri muslims who want to go to Pakistan are welcome to cross the border and settle down in Pakistan. There, they will be a direct witness to the terrorism that goes in the name of religion. Shias being killed, Ahmediyas, minorities living in fear. That is Pakistan for you.
To say that most muslims support Pakistan because some kashmiris cheered them in cricket is illogical. If whole of Kashmir had celebrated, we can still say that may be Kashmiris have a soft corner for their muslim brothers who are increasingly being tortured and killed in a nation meant for the safety of the muslims. That still leaves out millions outside of Kashmir.
I am against the sedition charges being filed. They have a right to expression that includes right to dissent. This may be one way of dissenting against the injustices that they have faced in the past. Still they are stupid to believe Paksitan is their role model when that nation is going down the drain ever so slowly.

  48. @Indian reader: Did India win the world cup after defeating Pakistan?. It was only on one occasion, that too at home, that India won the world cup after beaating Pakistan in the semi finals. Although Pakistan lost to India in world cup but on one occasion Pakistan won the world cup (1992) and on one occasion (1999) was runner up when Austaloa emerged champions. On the aggregate Pakistan leads the number of wins against India outside world cup.

  49. @Indian reader:
I was watching this match in a screening party in islamabad where few guys were openly supporting and cheering for India specially in most heated moments (for unknown reasons) but it didn’t create any bad taste instead it added more fun to it as we found some opposition in them
Above mentioned case took place in a university where we expect to have sense and tolerance but it seems Indian students are over obsessed with anti pakistanism

  50. The students should not have been detained and suspended for 3 days. What happened was not right and there has been sufficient outrage/protest for this action in India including the CM of J&K personally talking to the CM of UP to look into this issue.

What also happened was that 3 people died in Karachi in celebratory gun-shots after Pakistan won the match. However there has been literally no protest/outrage for this from any Pakistani.
In my view 3 ppl dying is a much more grave issue than students being detained/suspended.

Pakistan should really look into the problems faced by their country rather than having the schadenfreude at the relatively smaller issues faced by their neighbor.

  51. I commend the Kashmiris for standing up to suppression and injustice brought upon by the Indian tyranny

  52. silence of the liberaloons and secularoons..both of India and Pakistan says it all…about time ET stop pandering to them.

  53. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson: I am not agree with you, Hindus was never victim here. But every time when Pakistan win over India these kinds of news we see

  54. @Saj:
Only thing is that they should be persuaded to leave to Pakistani and they decline from doing it.India would be so much better off and no communal riots at all.No Godhras,no Muzzafarpur……

  55. @Khurram:
They should be admitted to universities in Pakistan and given free ships and scholarships as they are the real nationalists and supporters.

  56. @Saj: “Well it is so heartening to know that most Muslims in India support Pakistan. Pakistan Zindabad !!!”

I have no disagreement with your exhortation of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. But how did you conclude from this that ‘Most’ Muslims support Pakistan vis-a-vis India? This event was clearly unusual enough to draw attention.

One other thing that proves is that Kashmiri students have all the opportunities to study anywhere in the country and are hardly the oppressed individuals that Pakistani media portrays them as – because clearly they were studying in UP not Kashmir.

finally, this sedition trial will go nowhere and the men will be acquitted as they should be. This is nothing but an election trip by Samajwadi Paty who has been getting heat for its overt appeasement policies towards Muslims and now wants to tilt the balance. There is absolutely no merit in the case and cheering for any side is a person’s choice and does not amount to sedition.

  57. @Syed Jalal Kashmiri:
Join them and see how much love they will shower like they did to Bangladesh and Baluchistan

  58. @Muhammad Haris: “Big-heated and Progressive on the outside, and Conservative and Regressive on the inside … 😀 😀 … LOL …”

How so? Did the court convict them? Did the court even indict them? No. This means nothing other than Samajwadi Party is trying to correct its ongoing tilt towards Muslim leadership through overt appeasement. But they are trying to correct one wrong by another wrong. This is a stupid idea and people should be able to openly support whichever team they like.

Yes it is disappointing that these boys are taking all advantages of being Indian students and studying in UP but are still supporting Pakistan. But there is a big difference between disappointment and sedition.

  59. @Truth_Prevails: India is secular but also too intolerant. The case opened against these students are uncalled for. India is biggest democratic country but now proved to be biased with not only Muslims but also other minorities. Remember so many celebrities were not allowed to purchase a house in Bombay.

  60. Before partition India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were one and united celebrating each others win is OK and should not be taken seriously. How many ever wars we may have fought or how much ever the enmity be between us there is always Aman Ki Asha. I know many in Pakistan who celebrate India winning and many Indians celebrate Pakistanis winning. Conservatives on both side create wall but the liberals create bridges. Liberals on both sides enjoy the victory of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or the British. We are all one and we all friends living on the same planet mother earth. Unity in diversity, love(محبت )always wins over hatred(نفرت). Unity(اتحاد) always wins over divisiveness(تقسیم).Hope all the people on this planet earth love each other or at least tolerate each other. God loves you if you love others.

  61. @Hilarious:
i mean you are right. you people have fallen so much that even we can laugh about it!. there is more freedom in pakistan and even china than this.!!

  62. This might be an unpopular opinion, but as a Pakistani I am quite sick of this Kashmir issue being one of the choke points in Pak-India relations. There are people struggling under political and economic limitations all over the world including overwhelmingly in my own country, why my countrymen care especially for kashmiris in this respect is beyond me; just because they are muslims. I for one do not and I hope there are many more Pakistanis like me that share this opinion.
These kashmiri students as pointed out above were studying on full scholarships given out by the Indian Government, why bite the hand that feeds? More importantly they should be more sensitive about the things they say; they are at an Indian University spouting pro-Pakistan slogans. That is beyond stupidity and the height of irresponsibility, they deserve to get suspended.

  63. OK Dear! be happy in your state and among your not-state actors. We’re happy to live in a failed democracy which is hundred times better than living under the boot & gun wielding military and among human bombs. As you’re happy to be separate from us, we’re too happy to be separate otherwise we would have been facing visa problems around the world like you have been. You’re happy because you’re segregated and suspected when you enter in others country and reluctant to tell that you’re Pakistanis (sometimes saving themselves by faking as Indian). If this is happiness then god bless us we’re better on being sad. As far as cheering of match is concern it’s intention that matters most than acts and you people have sown so much hatred in Kashmir that their mere intention of being pro brings a lot of hue and cry otherwise everybody wants to appreciate good cricket played by Pakistanis including me.

  64. @Broken Heart: “Democracy wins Again…!”

Indeed it does. The CM of the state that the boys were from spoke up in their favior. The government of India withdrew the case which had no merit. Even if it had not done so, the court would have trown it out. When it has acquitted Geelani of sedition charges despite his fiery anti-india speeches – where is the question of convicting these boys?

This indeed is how a democracy works i.e. if some overzealous lower level person makes a bad decision, there are enough corrective mechanism in place.

  65. Just a brotherly advise to all Indians commenting here. Please be careful, you may get your internet subscriptions cancelled due to reading and commenting on Pakistani news outlets :p

    Cheers!

  66. @Syed Jalal Kashmiri:
We love you, and will never stop supporting you.
Brave Kashmiris you have suffered enough…more than enough…

  67. @Aftab Kenneth Wilson:
I don’t agree with you. Not as far as cricket is concerned. Pakistani hindus and muslims (or parsis for that matter) can support who ever they want…

I dont know where you are from but you dont know this about Pakistan…

What is true though, there are lots of looney semi literate mullahs here who are prepared to give a death fatwa against practically anyone here, but even Pakistani muslims are the targets here…they dont discriminate 🙂

  68. @Indian:

Yes these people are welcome in Pakistan….

Better to live in a free country then in an oppressive state where there is no freedom of choice…

  69. @Indian reader:

    Got really upset…

    Cursed the team…

    Cursed the ritual batting collapse…

Cursed ourselves for being glued to the TV for all that time, coming close to numerous heart attacks during the match..

Swearing to ourselves never ever to watch cricket again…..only to be there glued to the TV for the next world cup, rooting like crazy for the GREEN SHIRTS…

We love and hate the Pakistan team…(but mostly love them)

    Pakistan Zindabad

  70. We wouldnt have this problem if we played each other more often. Its the built up steam …

  71. The VC is a muslim and he only saved his seat by terminating the students. Muslims in India have to constantly show their (and prove) their loyalty to the state. I can bet, had the VC been a hindu, nothing like this would have happened to these students.

  72. One of the realities of india. Guys check out the tweets of indian cricketers, specially Jadeja. They can never be our friends.

  73. Kashmiris are our brothers! Our doors are always to open to you, you are more than welcome in Pakistan!

  74. India never kicked out Kashmiri Muslims from Kashmir to Pakistan..but Pakistan attacked Kashmiri Pandits from Pak Occupied Kashmir and they left from there..so there are no Hindus in POK but the Kashmir belongs to India have more Muslims and they support PAKISTAN ONLY AND ONLY BECAUSE OF RELIGION ISLAM..They never know the bitter truth of Pakistan..

GEO TV. .PAKISTAN CRICKET BOARD CHAIRMAN SAID THE TRUTH ON THIS..WHO WAGED THE WAR AND WHO OCCUPIED…

IN 25 CRORES MUSLIMS FEW KASHMIRI HAIL PAKISTAN NEVER MIND.. 🙂

  75. I found this line interesting: “Vice-chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Dr Manzoor Ahmad said he was taken aback by such a gesture by the students.”
So, the VC of this university is a muslim, very likely a non-kashmiri muslim who was surprised, like most others, at the attitude of the kashmiri youth.
These Kashmiri students should be allowed to go to Pakistan to pursue further studies. They have no future in India.

  76. India’s getting a black eye everywhere one looks these days. Whether it’s Wendy Doniger, or such stupid acts by charged up police, Indians that care about their country shouldn’t be defending these acts. Because it’s under such a spotlight, esp. with the rise of Mr. Modi, Indians need to show the world they really are who they say they are. Unfortunately, many Indians on this comment line don’t share this point of view. It’s time for the secular, liberal India to stand up, or the lunatic right will totally take over the narrative.

  77. “If the Kashmiri students want to come and pursue their education in Pakistan, our hearts and academic institutions are open to them,” Tasnim Aslam told reporters in Islamabad.

My! My! Hasn’t Pakistan already opened the doors the madrassas and camps being run by the likes of LeT and JeM under state patronage to all and sundry from all over the world? And isn’t that boomeranging on Pakistan today? Yet the Pakistani state refuses to learn its lessons. Well, carry on. Let’s see where you end up finally.
Btw, what about the millions who go without education inside Pakistan? Spare a thought for them as well, Please.

  78. As a true Pakistani patriot, I would like to thank India for creating Bangladesh. That gave us our highest successful ODI run chase. Soon, we’ll have an ex-Pakistan-Cup tournament for the official Pakistan, Bangladesh, Balochistan, and NWFP teams. India: we could use your help in making this tournament a reality.

  79. Kashmir belongs to India, Pakistan can try its best, it wont get anything. You have been trying for over 60 years now, but like everything else, you failed at this too. In the process of trying to get Kashmir, you lost Bangladesh. First learn to control your own territory, then dream of invading. Balochis dont want to be a part of Pakistan either, why are you not letting them form their own country?

Any Kashmiri who is Pro Pakistani should be in Pakistan, thats the right place to celebrate Pakistan victories. This Pakistani dream to capture Kashmir, disguised as “Azaadi” for Kashmiris, will fail like every other sinister Pakistani ambitions.

When one does not have any achievements of their own to celebrate, they celebrate other’s failures, hence a failed state like Pakistan, whose only role in this world is to breed jehadis (who btw are now killing more Pakistanis than any other nation) celebrates when something goes wrong in India. India foolishly made a mistake of slapping sedition charges on those idiotic students, but India has the ability to correct itself too, and withdrew the charges too. That is the power of democracy, where citizens can be critical of its nation, and force it right its wrongs. In Pakistan, response to a pro India celebration would have been suicide bombing. Your nation is yet to realize its mistakes of using terrorism to capture Kashmir, now that same terror is haunting you and has come back to bite you.

  80. @Imran Umaid : Bhai there is difference between Pak-Eng, Ind-Eng relations and Ind-Pak relations. If in Pakistan, someone says Pakistan murdabad infront of you, I am pretty sure your blood will boil too. Also, the students in UP university were not expelled, but suspended for their own safety, as they would be easily outnumbered by the other students. Sedition charges were foolish, I am glad they were withdrawn

  81. @csmann: “must be RSS/BJP to gain votes on anti=Pakistan sentiments”

RSS is not apolitical party and does not need votes. BJP does not rule UP where this incident occurred. If you are an Indian as you claim to be in your posts – I am surprised that you were not aware that it is Samajwadi Party which has a reptation of appeasing the mullahs which was in power in UP.

  82. @csmann:
Please show me any election where anti-Pakistan slogans got votes for a party. This did not even happen in 2009 elections which were soon after 26/11 where the ruling UPA had taken a very soft stance with Pakistan.

In any case BJP does not rulein UP,

  83. It seems Pakistanis really love us my fellow Kashmiris. Lets all migrate to Pakistan. I am sure we will get citizenship quickly with the “Mohajirs” visa we will be carrying.

  84. It has given Pakistani a good handle to deride India, but the fact of the matter is that it was a local level situation when in a nail baiting situation supporters of two team got engaged violently and the local authority to pacify the situation took some action. This could happen even when the warring faction here where not supporter of India or Pakistan team. This issue was flared up by the media in different color to attract the viewership.

  85. So how many Pakistani would be ok if baloch in karachi or lahore or quetta start cheering up for Indian team against Pakistan ?

  86. @Indian: In Karachi the bangalis always support Bangladesh cricket team and no one ever asked them why u are supporting Bangladesh ? why not Pakistan ? This foolish act of uni administration and Govt shows real face of so called “Secular and Democratic India”.Next time present a draft to ICC that we will only play cricket with any team if both of the umpires belongs to India … 🙂

  87. @Candid 1: Seach the international media then see who hates who! Nobody wants to any relation with Pakistan! No cricket team wants to play in Pakistan! Each and every country is feared of Pakistan! Yes I will have my tea/coffee, Lassi or anything, because there are so much to choose from.

  88. @Hilarious: Using racial slurs such as “paki” makes you look more like an idiot. Just saying…

  89. most pakis without using their brain easily bash india, but think this way if these students loved pakis so much why is that they did not apply for a college in pakistan, because they felt lot safer in india than in a terror ridden pakistan.

  90. In 2007 I had the pleasure of being the only Pakistani in a crowd of over a 100 Indians watching a tense Pak vs India game in a sports bar in one of Mohali’s famous Hotels. On every Pakistani four or six hit, i would be off my feet and applauding. On every Indian wicket that fell i would be doing the bhangra. I got a lot of cold stares right until the final moment when we won the match but not once was i asked my nationality or where i came from. Narrow mindedness is an individual sickness of the mind, let us not brand a entire country with it on religious and political grounds. The sedition case was an act of impulse and yes a stupid one but having said that it has since been withdrawn. Let us be gracious in our victory by not ranting it in the oppositions face.

  91. @Hilarious: says someone who cant even own a flat near a fellow hindu ‘indian’. we mite nt be a model democracy, but india’s democracy which it claims to be perfect, is a slap on muslims!im happy that you guys are happy, its just we are more happy to live according to what we deem fit

  92. Why is Pakistani media so slow and dimwitted?

Don’t you understand that we in India have a federal setup? It was the state government and not the Indian government.

Indian government has little authority over what each state does.

  93. @Ammar:

“Kashmiris are our brothers! Our doors are always to open to you, you are more than welcome in Pakistan!”

They are your brothers like Mohajirs? Balochis? Bangladeshis? Hazaras?

Or they are your brothers like Chinese, Turkish, Saudi?

  94. @Real face: It was just a fluke win by Pakistan against Indian B team. Afridi had no options but just to slog and it came off. We are proud of our young team for stretching “full strength” Pakistan’s ‘Dads” team to the last over of the Match.

  95. everyone knows here that majority of kashmiri people are still connected directly or indirectly with pakistan …….but by doing so i don’t think they are doing any
act of sedition , treason etc…..these are natural instincts…history , culture, geography there are several reasons..
But when they are away from kashmir they should know the situation and act accordingly … if they have sympathy its ok but they should understand that people from other part have different perception….

  96. @Raj Kafir:

for your Kind information Mr. Rana Bhaghwan Das was A Non Muslim Ex- Chief of Pakistan. he is most respectable and undisputed personality across the country. and now he is going to be the chief election commissioner of Pakistan as Both Pak Govt: and Opposition agreed on his name.

  97. @Raj Kafir: Name a single Muslim chief Minister in Pakistan who organized and led massacre of thousands of unarmed innocent children, women and men belonging to minority?

  98. could anyone just go and read that new york times article regarding the issue n comment in Pak.’s favour or something:-P?
and, and, and, with BJP on its way to form govt.in cuming elections, who knows what’s gonna happen in this Hindu-Muslim,India-Pak arena.

  99. @Raj Kafir:

For Your Kind information Mr. Rana Baghwan Das was Ex- Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. He also worked as Chairman of Federal Public Service commission of Pakistan. and now he is going to be the new Chief Election Commissioner soon.

  100. It’s a shame swing the Indians cry and be bad loosers they want to become head of cricket but the true colours have shown all theses Indians are is racist and bad loosers if you can’t take loosing they shouldn’t be playing cricket

  101. @Faiz:
Are toilets are 100% available in Pakistan? At least, we Indians acknowledge the problems and try to work it out. What about Pakistan?

  102. @Khurram:

My dear man, you are welcome to have not only these but also other Kashmiris who are being paid by Pakistani Agent provocateurs to create mischief. Just open your gates to these traitors and see how many want to cross to Pakistan — these are the same people who enjoy all the benefits of Indian generosity, but continue to cry for more and ever more. The students who cheered Pakistan is not the problem; the problem is that they were heckling and indulging in name calling which provoked the other students. The ET story fails – delibrately? – to mention the full facts. Half truth can be more dangerous and deceptive than a full lie! Have you not heard about that before, Sir??!!

  103. And express tribune as usual phrasing the story which looks less bad for india….The head line of the story also an attempt to suggest as a corrective measure has been taken.
