The lawmakers realised that they had made a mistake in a bill they passed in an earlier session to revise the traffic violation penalties.
The Express Tribune published a report showing that the traffic fines were either decreased or kept unchanged when the Sindh Assembly reviewed the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 on April 1. During Monday’s session, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Heer Ismail Soho referred to the story and pointed out the mistake.
“We have passed the law, but unfortunately instead of increasing the traffic fines, we have decreased them significantly,” she said waving a copy of the newspaper and a copy of the challan issued by the traffic police. “How did the law department draft the bill without checking the ground realities?” It will be a blunder in the history of the provincial assembly if it is not corrected, said MQM’s Khwaja Izharul Hassan.
“All members should have pointed out the mistakes,” Dr Sikandar Mandhro said. “The bill has yet to be enacted into law as it is pending the governor’s approval,” he added.

Extreme right for private cars, centre lane for commercial vehicles and the left lane for motor bikes, rickshaws and other individual form of transport. Any vehicle break down on the road should be immediately pushed to the side or service roads. Strange, people parked their vehicles even on the fast lane to change a flat tire or do some repairs. Overloaded transport vehicles should be confiscated. And finally all encroachments, push carts vendors, cabins should be removed and pavements should be free for pedestrians use.
