Pakistan Test captain Misbahul Haq was fined 20% of his match fee due to the slow over rate during the final day’s play at The Oval, Express News reported on Monday.

The incident occurred on the final day of proceedings where the tourists were accused of slow over rate shortly after Pakistan claimed a 10-wicket win at the Oval to level the series.

‘Homeless’ Pakistan deserve to be No 1, says Misbah

The 42-year-old now faces possible suspension should he be charged with the offence once again.

According to International Cricket Council’s (ICC) press release, match referees imposed the fine after Misbah’s side was ruled to be one over short of its target of 158 overs when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10% of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

Pakistan crush England to level series

If Pakistan commits another minor over-rate breach in a Test within 12 months of this offence with Misbah as captain, it will be deemed a second offence by the captain and he will face a suspension.

Since Misbah pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Bruce Oxenford, third umpire Joel Wilson and fourth official Rob Bailey.

  1. @AF: Indeed, PCB should take care of that. And compared to the alleged ball tampering by the other team in the Third test, this is a minor infraction done unwittingly, to win the match-and what a win it was.

One Over Short after 158 Overs of Play…….Are you seriously kidding me? Pathetic

  3. God bless you Pakistan team i pray for pakistan team next Australia and New Zealand tour

  4. What is this???
One over short and fined 10%
One should also note that batsmen got out and came in and it also takes time

One over is mostly completly in 5 min
So this shouldnt been happened and the 10% fines is out of context especially for one one over late

  5. @Saad:
    It was 20% not 10% fine.These Brits could not ban any Pakistani bowler on action, neither they could put charges of match fixing, women in rooms, betting, etc through Hindus-tani bookies;; which they tried too this time also through evening parties etc; So, taking anger out, punish with 20% match fees fine, as these low life Brits could not do anything else; Now, our players should be extra cautious specially Yasir Shah, as they will target him on this trip;

  6. WOW English are big time sore losers. They are probably feeling butt hurt by those pushup antics that Pakistani’s pulled after the first test win and every one witnessed how they left English red faced. LOL

  7. the imposition of 20% of the match fee fine on the Pakistani Captain is retaliation of defeated the England
