CHARSADDA:

Using the cricketing terms to comment on the PTI’s announcement to postpone its Nov 2 protest in Islamabad, the ANP chief Asfandyar Wali has said the PTI chief Imran Khan has been dismissed on a no-ball.

“But today his [Imran Khan’s] U-turn shows that the Prime Minister [Nawaz Sharif] has clean-bowled Imran on a no-ball,” Asfandyar said on Tuesday while addressing a public gathering in Sardheri area of the Khyber Pakhtunkwa’s (K-P) Charsadda district.

Imran Khan backs down from threat to shut down capital

Asfandyar said after accepting petitions seeking probe into Panamagate scandal, the Supreme Court had issued notices to both Imran Khan and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “But instead of accepting the SC’s verdict, Imran at that time announced Islamabad lockdown,” he added.

“If Imran Khan believed in the Supreme Court then why did he make a call for lockdown” he said, adding that lockdown and protest could not solve the issue but created hurdle in the country’s progress.

He said if the PTI chief announced protest to safeguard Pakhtun people’s rights in the multi-billion dollar CPEC, then he would fight under his leadership.

“But he [Imran] is fighting to win Punjab by using Pakhtuns,” he said, adding: “If he is sincere with the K-P then he should give call for a dharna for Pukhtuns’ rights in the CPEC.”

He said the ANP will never accept governor’s rule in K-P and will lead a protest in case of the K-P Assembly’s dissolution. He said PM Nawaz’s attitude was also not democratic in his treatment of protesters, adding that blockade of roads was unconstitutional.

He claimed that the PM was telling lies when he said the rights of Pakhtuns were ensured in the CPEC project.  “If Nawaz Sharif is sincere then he must publish the CPEC maps and the details of its projects in the K-P and Balochistan,” he said, adding that the government changed the name of Gawadar-Kashghar route to CPEC in order to divert its entire project to Punjab.

  1. Every hurdle to a politician’s pocket is a hurdle to progress. IK should understand this by now 😛 unfortunately, the Pakistani public will always vote for those who just give them roads and airconditioned buses instead of strengthening the institutions and developing a nation.

  2. Khans obsession and Hatred made him fall. All PTI workers should be released today they are punished enough with a leader like Imran Khan .

  3. Its Imran Khan Vs rest of the politicians. He is alone fighting for the right cause. That’s what I like of him despite of odds against him.

  4. @salman: It’s not Imran Khan against the other politicians – it is Imran Khan against the stability of the nation, against development and against democracy. Why can’t he just work to fix things in parliament and stop destabilizing the country?

  5. Wrong timing chosen by Imran Khan when CPEC’s first shipment is in route! Another mistake was withdrawl from the demand of resignation. Yesterday some “particular” media channels that we all know were constantly playing Imran Khans own words “our demand is prime minister’s resignation before the case is proceeded in supreme court”. He backed out from that demand, because no matter how much clean and clear the panama scandal may look, it still is the judiciary that will decide. Nawaz Shareef and Altaaf Hussains are the types of people that do not accept any thing be it corruption, murders, loot, etc etc. The only good that seems to come out is that now NAB has to build up the case against the PM. The ToR’s will have to be submitted. In any case, Noon league is gona complete its tenure. Nawaz shareef may opt to live in Dubai or KSA later on and the people of Pakistan, especially Punjab will choose Marium Nawaz as their next leader!

  6. @Humza: What do you know about stability? Occupying the presidentship of a party for 30 years and getting elected for third time without considering any other party member is what you call stability? How many times does NS attend parliament sessions? How could you expect the stability from a guy who uses foreign hospitals and keeps his money abroad. I wonder why couldn’t you even think of your children who would never get elected as PM under the umbrella of this family dynasty.

  7. IK is his own worst enemy. He is not cleaned bowled, even worse, he does not know how to play. Long years standing in the sun has taken its toll.

  8. @Humza: Weird logic! The great IK is fighting against corruption and for justice. HIs fighting against corrupt ruler is for long term stability, development and democracy, as corruption is root cause of evils and must be eradicated.

  9. @Humza:

do you know wht democracy means? One basic pillar of democracy is that government institutions belongs to people. They all are accountable even police. Right to protest is the basic essence of democracy..just putting in a paper in ballot box doesnt make a country democratic
